LONGLAC -- An early morning foot pursuit Thursday resulted in charges for a 28-year-old Longlac resident.
According to an Ontario Provincial Police release, officers were conducting focused patrols around 1 a.m. in the area of Hamel Avenue in response to recent property crimes in the area.
Officers observed fresh footprints in the snow around several area businesses and followed those footprints into a nearby wooded area.
Police say officers observed the suspect and the individual was taken into custody following a brief foot pursuit.

Investigation revealed that the accused had attempted to break-in to several businesses along the street although entry was not gained to any of the premises and nothing was reported to be taken.
Kathleen STEPHENSON, 28, of Longlac, ON has been charged with six counts of break and enter a place, mischief under $5,000, possession of break-in instruments and failure to comply with probation order.
The accused was also arrested for violating a conditional sentence order pursuant to section 742.6 of the Criminal Code.
The accused made a brief court appearance by video at the Ontario Court of Justice in Thunder Bay on Jan. 27, 2022 and was released from custody on a judicial release order to a future court date.
