Former Kenora resident charged with second-degree murder

Ontario Provincial Police have charged Trenton Richardson on Tuesday with second-degree murder.

KENORA, Ont. – Trenton Richardson has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with the death of 77-year-old woman.

According to an OPP media release, officers were called to a Railway Street home early Monday morning after receiving reports of a sudden death. Officers discovered 77-year-old Brenda Richardson deceased.

Police arrested 26-year-old, Trenton Richardson, formerly of Kenora. He was charged with assault causing bodily harm. On Tuesday, the accused was charged with second-degree murder.

He is being held in custody in Kenora and is scheduled to appear in court on June 20.

Members of the OPP North West Region Crime Unit and the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner.

The post mortem took place at the Office of the Chief Coroner and Forensic Pathology Service in Toronto on March 1.
