GTA man charged in connection to Victoria Avenue drug bust denied bail

THUNDER BAY - A GTA man facing a number of charges connected to drug trafficking and firearms after police executed a search warrant at a Victoria Avenue apartment earlier this month has been denied bail.

Abdullahi Ali, 21, appeared in a Thunder Bay courtroom by audio on Friday, Sept. 23 for a lengthy bail hearing before Justice of the Peace Anna Gibbon.

Because of a publication ban, details of the bail hearing held Friday cannot be published.

Ali was one of six people arrested in early September after Thunder Bay police executed a search warrant at a south-side apartment in the 1000-block of Victoria Avenue.

Police located and seized $16,000 worth of drugs including crack cocaine, cocaine and heroin. Officers also located $29,000 in cash and four loaded handguns.

Some of Ali’s charges include possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of heroin for the purpose of trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and several firearm-related offences.

Ali will return to court next month for his next scheduled appearance.
