RED LAKE – A 46-year-old Red Lake man is facing impaired driving charges.
According to an Ontario Provincial Police release, officers were on patrol Sunday, Jan. 16 just before 10 p.m. when they encountered a vehicle on the ice road in Red Lake.
During the investigation, the male driver was determined to have been consuming alcoholic beverages.
Police say the officer made a demand for an approved screening device breath sample.
The driver failed, was placed under arrest and returned to the detachment for further tests.
As a result of the investigation, a 46-year-old of Red Lake was charged with operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).
He was released by way of undertaking for Red Lake court on Feb. 17 to answer to the charges.
