Investigators say arson is suspected in a Machar Avenue house fire.

Firefighters responded to the blaze on the evening of March 6 after reports that smoke and flames could be seen coming from the building. Homeowners were not present at the time of the fire.

Officials from the Office of the Fire Marshall began an investigation to determine the cause. Police say the fire inspector has determined that the fire was deliberately set.

The Thunder Bay Police Service was then contacted and a criminal investigation into the incident is now ongoing.

Anyone with information about this fire, or information about any suspicious activity in the Machar Avenue area on the evening of March 6 is asked to contact city police at 684-1200.
