Jean-Paul De Roover releases new rendition of Little Drummer Boy

Northwest Ontario musicians deliver their take on a holiday classic.
THUNDER BAY – Every year local artist Jean-Paul De Roover, teams up with a different artist or band to come up with a rendition of a holiday classic.

This holiday season, De Roover connected with Sioux Lookout drummer Dennis Dumphy, who has made appearances on albums by Nick Sherman, Zack Bright, the Midgard Project and several of De Roover’s albums.

In a release issued on Monday, De Roover said the two have discussed putting their own spin on the Little Drummer Boy.

“All I knew is that as the featured drummer, he’d have free range to do whatever he wanted,” De Roover said in a release.

“I sent him a sketch of the song and indicated ‘solo: here, and here.’”

In less than 24 hours Dumphy sent De Roover drum tracks of him playing along and a solo selection.

De Roover added the rest of the recording was done in Thunder Bay.
