Jordan Staal scores in Hurricanes OT loss

Carolina captain has three goals in three games.

THJNDER BAY -- Jordan Staal scored his 30th career playoff goal on Friday night, but it wasn't enough to help the Carolina Hurricanes to a Game 3 win over the Nashville Predators.

Staal scored his third goal of the post-season three-and-a-half minutes into the second period to even the score 2-2. However, Nashville's Matt Duchene scored the game winner with five minutes to go in double overtime to earn the Predators their first win in the series.

The Hurricanes lead the best-of-seven affair 2-1.

In other action involving Thunder Bay players, the St. Louis Blues fell 5-1 to the Colorado Avalanche and trail 3-0.

Former Fort William North Star defenceman Robert Bortuzzo, who left Game 2 after taking an elbow to the face from Colorado's Tyson Jost, who was not penalized on the play.

Eric Staal and the Montreal Canadiens will look to take a 2-0 lead on Toronto on Saturday night.
