THUNDER BAY – A Thunder Bay couple could be in for a big move after winning big in June’s 50/50 hospital draw.

Jessica Campigotto and Jeff Osborne collected $831,338 in the monthly draw, which benefits the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.

“We’ve been renting and want to buy a house to move up, so I’ll probably buy that house,” said Osborne. “I have some vacation booked in August to go to some races … and that will probably change now!”

The popular draw has so far awarded over $24 million in prizes to winners across Ontario, the hospital’s charitable foundation reports.

Revenue from the fundraiser is used to purchase equipment for the hospital, with a new water purification system for dialysis patients one recent example.

“We are dreaming bigger, doing more than ever before for our hospital,” said Glenn Craig, president of the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation. “The Thunder Bay 50/50 has allowed us to fund much-needed new and replacement equipment sooner than we were able to before.”

The next grand prize will be drawn on July 27, with tickets available online and at the Northwest Store in the Intercity Shopping Centre.
