LAPPE, Ont. -- The Lappe Invitational will go on as planned, but organizers have placed strict rules in place as to who can participate.

Anyone who has travelled internationally or to a known area of coronavirus outbreak is asked not to attend.

Also on the do-not-race list is any individual, or anyone whose siblings or parents, have shown signs of a fever and/or a cough with upper repiratory symptoms.

Skiers and spectators are urged to bring their own hand sanitizer and people are urged not to share food or drinks.

Participants are also being encouraged to spend as much time outside as possible.

The facility's showers and saunas are closed until further notice.

“As we enter the end of our ski season, we also enter a time of great uncertainty due to COVID-19. One where we may not be able to gather and enjoy each other’s company as we would like,” reads a statement posted on the Lappe Nordic website.

“We are keeping a diligent eye on the COVID-19 situation so we can respond as information comes available. Events and programs may require cancellation and notices will be posted here on our website.”

The event is scheduled for Saturday at 11 a.m.
