Officials at the Meno-Ya-Win Health Centre in Sioux Lookout are now taking legal action against the hospital's designer and builder after several years of dealing with leaky roofs.
The hospital first encountered the problem just months after opening its doors in the fall of 2010.
CEO Doug Murray said they gave the original contractors the chance to fix the problem, and warranty work was carried out in the summer of 2011.
But the leaks have continued this winter, and the hospital will now be seeking compensation through the courts.
Hospital officials say they have now contacted different architectural and engineering professionals to make the permanent repairs.
The issue has caused the closure of three patient rooms in a unit that is often running at full capacity, causing a significant impact to patient care.
