THUNDER BAY – Two people have been taken to hospital after a two-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle at a busy north side intersection.

Emergency services responded to the collision between the motorcycle and an SUV-type vehicle at Red River Road and Junot Avenue, which happened around 10:20 a.m. Thursday.

Thunder Bay Police Service Traffic Sgt. Gord Snyder said the vehicle was travelling eastbound on Red River Road, making a turn to head north on Junot Avenue when it collided with the westbound motorcycle.

The 67-year-old motorcyclist and 53-year-old driver of the vehicle were both taken to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre with injuries that are described as not life threatening.

A witness at the scene said the motorcyclist was pinned underneath the bike before passing motorists got out of their vehicle to lift the bike off of him.
