THUNDER BAY – Mount Baldy is set to hold its first Fall Colours Festival this weekend.

“I figured I’d give back to all the crazy horse lovers like myself and give us something to do on these beautiful days like this, all these colours you can see and these views are amazing,” said Mount Baldy owner Daniel Kardas.

The event on Saturday is “Bring your own horse” and will feature a special guest appearance. The event Sunday will be for dog owners to bring their dogs out and walk the trails with them.

“The cool thing is, you’re going to have Kerry James, from the popular series Heartland, which is pretty wild,  He’s coming up, so the true cowboys are really showing up, so it’ll be kind of neat, it’s the first time we’ve ever done this, we figured we’d start with that,” Kardas said,

“And then on Sunday we’re doing, with Bark & Fitz, the Dog Walk, so we’ve got five stations on the mountain where you can pick up tickets, there’s going to be lots of prizes, there’s food vendors out, and the bars going to be open, and the colours are amazing up here, the views are spectacular.”

The event will be held from Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m at the Mount Baldy Ski area.

The prices for entry to the event are:

  • $5.00 per person
  • $10.00 per dog handler
  • $30.00 per horse rider

Attendees will pay at the gate for entry, due to the immense size of the property, there will not be a limit on the number of tickets sold.

Guests are reminded to follow all social distancing protocols while attending the event.
