THUNDER BAY - Police say an investigation into the death of a man whose body was found off of Main Street on Sunday morning is making progress.
The victim, 31-year-old Christopher David Meesetawagesic, was located by a passerby shortly after 10 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 30 in the 400-block of Main Street.
Investigators deemed the sudden death a homicide a day after on Monday, Aug. 31.
Ryan Hughes, deputy chief with the Thunder Bay Police said Thursday, Sept. 3, investigators are currently looking into the timeline of when the victim was last seen to when he was found.
“We have a lot of investigators working on it right now, we have numerous people still to interview,” Hughes said, adding he couldn’t speak on the specific details of the case.
A post-mortem examination of the victim has completed however Hughes said he could not comment on those findings.
“Through all the witness statements hopefully we can get a motive as to why the victim was murdered and have that all prepared for court,” he said.
Police could not say if any arrests have been made but say the case is advancing well.
“We will have further updates as the week goes on,” he said.
