MPP Bill Mauro says he’s happy the province’s budget has passed.

The minority Liberal-led provincial government had its second budget approved at Queen’s Park Tuesday thanks, to no one’s surprise, to the support of the NDP.

Mauro (Lib., Thunder Bay-Atikokan) said it’s good news for Northern Ontario as the budget includes the continuation of the Northern Industrial Electricity Rate, highway reconstruction and a $100 million infrastructure fund for rural and Northern municipalities.

“It’s going to allow us to move forward,” Mauro said.

“I think we’ve landed in a pretty good place.”

The provincial legislature will resume Sept. 9.
