THUNDER BAY  — Police are still on the hunt for a fourth suspect connected to a violent kidnapping that left a man with serious injuries last week.

On Sept. 14, officers with the Ontario Provincial Police responded to reports of a male who had been abducted, forcibly confined and assaulted with a firearm in Nipigon.

The male victim managed to escape his alleged captors and received assistance from a witness who called police, according to a news release issued on Monday, Sept. 21.

Andrew Otway, 29 and Billy John Thompson, 32 were both arrested and charged with several offences in connection to the incident.

A third suspect, Harold Robert Sault, 29 has also been arrested by police. A fourth suspect has been identified but has not been arrested yet, police say.

OPP Acting Sgt. Mitch Brennen said Wednesday, Sept. 23, all parties were known to each other and this was not a random act.

“There is no danger to the public from this one person still outstanding,” he said. "It's all related to this group of people"

At this point, police cannot say if this investigation is related to any other cases, Brennen said.

“We are treating this as a separate investigation and I can’t say if it is related to anything else at this point,” he said.
