The number of people confirmed to have become sick after visiting a Murillo restaurant continues to grow.

Several patrons who are believed to have visited This Old Barn last weekend have been stricken with gastro-intestinal illness.  While initial reports indicated about 60 people had reported symptoms, officials with the Thunder Bay District Health Unit say the number has now grown to nearly 90.

Heath Unit spokesman Chris Beverage says they have spoken with more 200 people who visited the eatery Friday-through-Sunday and want to hear from anyone else who ate there during that time and has not been contacted.

While initial reports indicated E. coli contaminated water may have been the cause, they are also looking at food items.

Beverage added that the customer interviews will help them narrow down which foods served may have been the source of the outbreak. The owner of the restaurant was contacted for comment for this story, but declined an interview request.
