An outbreak of COVID-19 has been declared over in one area of the St. Joseph’s Hospital, while another area of the facility is in a continued outbreak.

An outbreak at the hospital’s 5 South, Geriatric Assessment and Rehabilitative Care, declared on Sept. 26, is now considered over, said the Thunder Bay District Health Unit in a release.

Another outbreak in the hospital’s 2N/2S area remains ongoing, according to the health unit.

The TBDHU was monitoring five COVID-19 outbreaks in high-risk settings across the district as of Wednesday. In addition to the ongoing outbreak at the St. Joseph’s Hospital, that included outbreaks in three areas of the Southbridge Pinewood long-term care home: Hummingbird, Kingfisher, and Blue Heron.
