One COVID outbreak at St. Joseph's Hospital is declared over

Other COVID-19 outbreaks continue in high-risk settings in the Thunder Bay area.

THUNDER BAY — An outbreak of COVID-19 in a section of St. Joseph's Hospital is now over.

The Thunder Bay District Health Unit had declared an outbreak on 5 North, Geriatric Assessment and Rehabilitative Care, on Sept. 26.

COVID-19 outbreaks are ongoing in other areas of the hospital – 5 S (declared Sept. 26), 2N and 2 S (declared Oct. 2).

At Southbridge Pinewood long-term care, according to information posted by the operator, an outbreak that was initially declared on Sept. 23 continues in the Kingfisher and Hummingbird areas of the facility.

Southbridge Care Homes reports that 30 residents and two staff members tested positive for the virus. All were fully vaccinated.

On Tuesday afternoon, TBDHU and Southbridge also declared an outbreak in the Blue Heron area of Southbridge Pinewood.
