NEEBING – Police say a man wanted for doing donuts recently in a community hall parking lot has a long history of driving offences, and as a result of their investigation, OPP have slapped the man with a stunt driving charge.
In a post to the OPP North West Region Facebook page, Const. Joel Eppinghaus said the 25-year-old male driver as also charged with operating a motor vehicle without insurance.
Last month, police issued a call to the public to help locate the man, spotted spinning circles, tearing up the gravel parking lot at the Blake Hall Community Centre.
It led several Newswatch commenters to question the priorities of police.
Eppinghaus said there’s often more than meets the eye in cases like these.
“When police looked up his history, this individual has lost his licence several times while having alcohol in his system while operating a motor vehicle. So, when it seems like there’s not more to the story, folks, there always is and this is why we do our due diligence in investigating things to our absolute,” Eppinghaus said.
“If this happened to your community in Terrace Bay, Toronto, Kenora, Red Lake, or even your property, acreage, front lawn or driveway, you’d want us to do our due diligence and try our best to figure out who did it.”
Police did not identify the driver.
