Pilot makes emergency stop on road near Vermilion Bay
The pilot of a small plane was forced to make an emergency landing on a remote road in the Vermilion Bay area Sunday.
Officials with the OPP say the 22-year-old Quebec pilot was en route to Yellowknife in a small Cessna.
After taking off from a re-fuelling stop in Sioux Lookout, the plane reportedly suffered a loss of power. This prompted the pilot to set down on a roadway, about 20-kilometres short of the Vermillion Bay landing strip.
While the plane did clip some trees while landing, the pilot was uninjured.
