Police find pot, Ecstasy pills during several traffic stops

MARATHON, Ont. -- Police seized illegal drugs from three different vehicles during three different routine stops over the holidays.

Officers with the OPP say on Dec. 27 they pulled over a Mazda 3 on Highway 17 east of Marathon to check the sobriety of the driver. Around eight grams of cannibus was found in the vehicle.

That driver has been charged with possession of a controlled substance and driving with a suspended license.

Police also pulled over a white Dodge Ram pickup truck on the morning of Dec. 28 at Highway 17 near Dunc Lake.

A search of the vehicle found close to 2.2 kilograms of marijuana, with an estimated potential street value of nearly $44,000.

Two men from Saskatchewan are charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of a controlled substance.

Again on the morning of Dec. 29 the driver and passenger of a gold Toyota Camry were charged for possession of a controlled substance, as well as possession for the purpose of trafficking.

This after marijuana, and 186 Ecstasy pills were found in their vehicle with a value of about $4,600.
