SANDY LAKE, Ont. -- Police are investigating a homicide following a fatal incident in this First Nations community.
Officers with the Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service responded to a call for medical assistance at a Sandy Lake home at about 5:30 a.m. Sunday, May 12.
When police arrived they discovered a man, who was removed from the home and later pronounced dead at Sandy Lake’s nursing station.
A post mortem examination took place in Kenora on Monday, and the man has been identified as 29-year-old Uriah Kakepetum.
Members of the OPP have joined NAPS officers as the investigation continues.
