RED LAKE – An evening traffic stop has resulted in impaired driving charges for a Red Lake man.
According to an Ontario Provincial Police release, officers received a driving complaint from a member of the public on Saturday, Jan. 15 around 7 p.m.
Police say officers initiated a traffic stop on a male traveling on Edward Avenue in Red Lake.
While speaking with the male, it was determined that they had been consuming alcoholic beverages.
The officer made a demand for an approved screening device breath sample, the driver failed and was placed under arrest.
The driver was taken to the detachment for further tests and as a result, a 25-year-old Red Lake man was charged with operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).
He was released by way of undertaking for Red Lake court on Feb. 27, 2022 to answer to the charges.
