Release order revoked for woman charged with murder

Emma Masakeyash remains in custody after having her release order revoked for breaching conditions
Cumberland Street Incident 3

THUNDER BAY - A judge has revoked the release order for a woman facing a second-degree murder charge in connection with the death of a Thunder Bay man.

Emma Masakeyash, 43, appeared in a Thunder Bay courtroom on Wednesday where her consent of release was revoked by Justice Platana at the request of crown prosecutor Rob Kozak.

The crown originally consented to the release order on Sept. 15, but requested it be revoked after Masakeyash was found in breach of two of her release conditions on Sept. 15 and Oct. 14.

Masakeyash will remain in custody and is expected to make another court appearance on Nov. 20. She has the right to apply for bail again if she wishes.

Masakeyash is one of three people facing second-degree murder charges in connection with the death of 31-year-old Kevin Roundhead, who was found severely injured under the Cumberland Street Bridge over McVicar Creek on July 5, 2017. He later died in hospital. Jessie Chapais, 23, and Skylar Masakeyash, 22, have also been charged and remain in custody.
