THUNDER BAY -- Rob Bellamy wears many hats, including indie horror film producer, writer, creator of CKX (Chatham-Kent Expo), The Chatham-Kent International Film Festival and creator of 'Pros with Cons', the ultimate comic con card game.

“Robert’s been with us for three years now,” says Media Director Heather Dickson. “He joined initially as guest handler for actor Paul McGillian in 2018 and quickly became a great resource for his industry connections. We’re happy to have him this year as our co-Emcee, along with his friend in shenanigans, Dr. Stevil!”

Bellamy has had a love of movies from a very early age when he watched the Star Destroyer engulf the screen in the first Star Wars. It was by chance he was pulled into filming on the film Dark Betrayals. He then became production supervisor and from there, a partner in the company. He has been a part of JX3 Media Productions, a film Production Company based in Chatham, Ont. He has been an extra, an actor, a writer, a director and is involved in the Podcast The movie Madhouse, talking about all things pop culture. He is also the co-host of BITS Radio with Kelly Michael Stewart, talking about the Blood in the Snow film Festival and Canadian genre film making. He also participates in a live comedy show in Chatham, Ontario called That's My Line.

“Rob’s been a great resource,” says ThunderCon Chair Kevin Taylor. “He is the organizer behind the Chatham-Kent Expo (Chatham-Kent's version of Comic Con) and we’ve been looking at working together with a few smaller Ontario conventions, strengthening our ties and sharing resources. We’re also hoping to debut Bellamy's board game, 'Pros with Cons' at ThunderCon, with several new TCon cards featured in the pack.”

Bellamy’s love of film led him to create the Chatham-Kent International Film Festival, which features new and independent films from all around the world.

“I’m just a simple guy,” says Bellamy with a grin. “I love movies, film making and chill after parties. Sign me up!”

ThunderCon runs Sept. 17-18, 2022, at the CLE grounds. For more information, go to www.thundercon.org, or contact chair Kevin Taylor at kevin@thundercon.org
