Second area of St. Joseph’s Hospital in COVID outbreak

An outbreak of COVID-19 has been declared in the 3 South wing of St. Joseph’s Hospital.

THUNDER BAY – An outbreak of COVID-19 has been declared in a second area of the St. Joseph’s Hospital.

The outbreak is restricted to the hospital’s 3 South (Rehabilitative Care Services) area, the Thunder Bay District Health Unit reported in a statement Wednesday.

The hospital was already managing an outbreak in its 4N/4S area, declared Aug. 29.

The health unit was tracking seven COVID-19 outbreaks in high-risk settings across the district as of Wednesday.

In addition to the two outbreaks at St. Joseph’s Hospital, those included outbreaks at Southbridge Roseview, Hogarth Riverview Manor, and Bethammi Nursing Home, and the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.

An outbreak in the 1N (Daffodil) area of Hogarth Riverview Manor was declared over by the health unit Wednesday, while another outbreak in the Spruce area remains active.
