Sioux Lookout OPP investigate serious assault

Two people were sent to hospital on Thursday, one with life-threatening injuries, and the other with minor injuries.

SIOUX LOOKOUT – Two people were taken to hospital following an aggravated assault late Thursday night.

According to an Ontario Provincial Police release, officers were dispatched to a report of a disturbance around 8:57 p.m. in the area of Fifth Avenue South in Sioux Lookout.

Police say it was reported that a group of people were fighting outside.

When police arrived, they located two victims with injuries. The first victim was transported to hospital with major injuries and then they were airlifted to Thunder Bay with potentially life-threatening injuries.

A second victim was transported to hospital with minor injuries. They were treated and released.

Police have arrested and charged Joshua McKay, 25, of Kingfisher Lake First Nation with aggravated assault, assault and resisting peace officer.

The accused was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear by audio in court on Oct. 1.

This investigation is ongoing.
