South-side store robbed at knifepoint

Police are investigating an armed robbery of a convenience store in the city’s south side. Thunder Bay Police Service officers responded to a call about a robbery at the Macs store on Simpson Street around 4 a.m. Saturday.

Police are investigating an armed robbery of a convenience store in the city’s south side.

Thunder Bay Police Service officers responded to a call about a robbery at the Macs store on Simpson Street around 4 a.m. Saturday. Police say two men, one armed with a knife, entered the store, assaulted a staff member and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash and cigarettes.

The staff member wasn’t hurt.

Police describe the two men as about five-foot-10 weighing about 180 pounds. One man wore a grey hooded sweatshirt with black pants and white t-shirt and the other wore a dark hooded sweatshirt and black pants.
