Gru. Snape. Uncle Fester. Doctor Stevil.
'Evil' has many names, but these nefarious villains turned unlikely heroes all have one name in common - Steve Zmijak! Cosplayer, comedian, YouTuber, podcaster, Steve (called Stevil by friends and foes alike) was a fan favourite in both ThunderCon 2018 and 2019, so this year, evil will reign supreme on the main stage as Gru/Dr. Stevil steps into the Master of Ceremonies shoes. Or should we say, the Master of EVIL Ceremonies?
“Stevil was a hit at the last ThunderCon,” says Media Director Heather Dickson. “He’s a natural on stage, with the guests and the crowds, and his impersonation of Despicable Me’s Gru is a treat for all ages. So, we decided to invite him back but this time, to keep him out of trouble, we’re putting him to work!”
Zmijak loves to interview guests, organizers, and attendees for his podcast “Chatting with Dr. Stevil,” and his outgoing personality combined with his skillful impersonations has made him a frequent guest at conventions in Canada and the US.
“I enjoyed meeting a whole lot of you last time,” says ‘Gru’ (aka Zmijak.) “So, I got invited to come back and spread a little bit of mischief and shenanigans!”
However, rumour has it that this nefarious villain intends to use his Shrink Ray to steal the Sleeping Giant, so Thunder Bay citizens must be on the lookout to prevent this epitome of villainy and mischief!
