THUNDER BAY -- Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra has canclled the rest of its season, but are asking patrons to consider donating the remainder of their tickets to the organization in return for a tax receipt.

Ticketholders may also request a refund for their unused tickets, which will not be transferable to next season.

TBSO president Linda Penner said they are committed to returning to their schedule as soon as it's deemed safe to do so by the Ontario government. The province's orders remain in place until March 31, but the uncertainty beyond that due to the growing spread of the coronavirus led to the decision to end the season prematurely.

“I can’t overstate the importance of donations right now,” McEachern said in a release issued on Tuesday evening.

“We are facing a serious revenue shortfall as we enter the summer when cash has always been tight. We will need all the help we can get to weather not only this health crisis but the financial challenges ahead.”

Ticketholders are advised not to contact the Thunder Bay Community Auditorium box office for refunds at this time.

Patrons interested in donating their tickets back to the TBSO are asked to visit the front page of the tbso.ca website. Alternatively, they can email response@tbso.ca or call 626-8276).
