Thunder Bay man charged in series of thefts

THUNDER BAY - Thunder Bay Police have arrested a 23-year old man in connection with several separate incidents over the past week.

At about 2:45 a.m. on Thursday, September 7 patrol officers were dispatched to the Summit Avenue area after two reports of a theft. They found a window had been smashed and items had been taken from a vehicle.

Shortly after, the officers located a suspect in the 200 block of South High Street, and after a foot pursuit they apprehended him in the 100 block of Crown Street.

Further investigation showed that two other vehicles in the area also had smashed windows.

The man was charged with resisting arrest, mischief, theft and breach of probation.

While he was at the Thunder Bay police station, he was also charged in connection with a theft from the Court Street Safeway on September 6, with a robbery at the Oliver Road Mac's outlet on September 2, and with two more counts of breach of probation.

The suspect appeared in court on Friday and was remanded into custody pending his next court date.
