Traffic stop leads to drug charges

Pair arrested and charged for possession for the purpose of trafficking.

ATIKOKAN, Ont. – A traffic stop in Atikokan earlier this week has resulted in drug charges for two men.

According to a release issued Thursday morning, Ontario Provincial Police conducted a vehicle stop on Monday just before 7 p.m.

Police say two male occupants were located in the vehicle and subsequently arrested.

A  search of the vehicle by officers and the OPP canine unit yielded a quantity of suspected Crystal Methamphetamine.

As a result of the investigation, a 26-year-old man from Thunder Bay has been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking and driving while under suspension.

Police also charged a 26-year-old man from Fort Frances with possession for the purpose of trafficking and failure to comply with recognizance.
