Traffic violation leads to major cocaine bust

(DRYDEN, ON) – On May 31, 2016 at approximately 8:37 a.m. Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Dryden detachment officers initiated a traffic stop for a Highway Traffic Act Offence on Highway 17 within the City of Dryden.

(DRYDEN, ON) – On May 31, 2016 at approximately 8:37 a.m. Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Dryden detachment officers initiated a traffic stop for a Highway Traffic Act Offence on Highway 17 within the City of Dryden.


As a result of that stop, a large amount of cocaine was seized along with a large amount of Methamphetamine with a total value of 120,000.00 dollars.  A large amount of Canadian Currency was also located and seized. 

A 45-year-old Alberta man has been charged with the following offences:

-Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Schedule I -Cocaine, contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act;
-Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Schedule 1- Methamphetamine, contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act;
-Possession of Property obtained by Crime over 5000.00 contrary to section 354(1) of the Criminal Code;
-Trafficking in a controlled substance- Cocaine, contrary to the Controlled Drugs and substance Act;
-Trafficking in a controlled substance Methamphetamine, contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act

The accused has been remanded into custody.
