A 65 year old male driver attempting to make a left turn out of the Beer Store parking lot on North Cumberland Street this afternoon at about 4 p.m. sent another driver into the curb and put that vehicle onto its side.
The driver of the northbound black Mitsubishi Lanser saw the grey Chev Tahoe cutting in front of him.
He attempted to steer clear of the collision but ended up being forced into the curb. The right wheels caught the high curb and the vehicle was instantly on its side. It was like a hockey check into the boards.
Very fortunately, there were no pedestrians on the sidewalk at that moment.
There were no injuries, and traffic has been snarled for the past hour. The debris is presently being cleared.
The driver of the Chev Tahoe is charged with failing to Yield from a Private Drive.
