THUNDER BAY — A pair of local residents faces drug-related charges after police responded to a southside housing complex following a call for assistance.

The Thunder Bay Police Service reports the incident occurred Tuesday in the 200 block of Amelia Street West, where Spence Court is located.

Officers entered a residence to find two individuals "who were not supposed to be present," the police stated in a news release Wednesday.

Both men were taken into custody, and a search of the premises allegedly revealed quantities of suspected cocaine and fentanyl, along with knives and paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking.

The accused, aged 50 and 34, are both charged with trafficking and with possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

They have been remanded into custody with a date for a future appearance before a judge.

The charges against them have not yet been tested in court.

It is Newswatch policy not to name people facing criminal accusations when we are unlikely to follow the case to its conclusion in the courts.
