It started out as an effort to check commercial vehicles, but a large number of non-commercial vehicle operators also ended up with tickets following an enforcement check at the Mapleward Road landfill site on Saturday.
Officials with the Thunder Bay Police Service say officers noted that numerous people had made no effort to secure the loads they were hauling to the landfill.
As a result, 23 tickets were issued, along with several verbal cautions.
Police say the public can expect more enforcement blitzes of this type at the landfill in the future.
