SIOUX LOOKOUT, Ont. – A Wasaya Airways flight was forced to land minutes after takeoff Friday night after the cargo door unexpectedly opened.

Flight WT992 took off from Sioux Lookout en route to Thunder Bay with six passengers and three crew members when vibrations could be felt throughout the plane.

The plane was then directed back toward the Sioux Lookout Airport where it made an uneventful landing. Passengers were placed on a different flight and were able to reach their destination later that night.

A media release issued by the airline Monday night said that at no time were any of the passengers or crew in danger.

Transport Canada has been notified and is working with the airline to determine what caused the door to be opened.
