Water-main work could lead to discoloured water

The replacement of two water mains extending from the Bare Point water treatment facility could lead some Thunder Bay residents to experience discoloured water on Thursday.

The replacement of two water mains extending from the Bare Point water treatment facility could lead some Thunder Bay residents to experience discoloured water on Thursday.

City officials said the work will begin on Wednesday when the two mains being replaced are decommissioned at Bare Point.
The work could also affect pressure, taste and water clarity.

Residents are cautioned not to open hot-water taps if they notice changes to their water and to open one cold-water tap and let the water flow until it runs clear before using. At that point residents can open all other taps, including hot water, and flush until all water runs clear.

If the problem isn’t solved, phone 625-2195.
