Like any big event, planning goes a long way with a wedding.

Victoria Bolduc and Daniel Laughton are getting married in June.

“We’ve planned a lot of it but we’re still not done yet,” Laughton said Sunday afternoon as the couple joined more than 300 pre-registered brides and grooms at the tenth annual Thunder Bay Wedding Show at the Victoria Inn.

Bolduc and Loughton said planning well ahead and help from friends and family have gone a long way to make sure their wedding day goes smoothly. Checking out more than 65 booths at the show has helped too.

“It was really neat to see a lot of the different business and what they have to offer,” Bolduc said. “We haven’t been too stressed out.”

Show manager Andre Fitzgerald said that’s what the event is all about.

“They’re coming out and seeing what is available and there’s a lot of great talent here in Thunder Bay.”It’s a chance for them to get out and sort of one-stop shop.”

And from fashion shows to cake samples, the show certainly had it all. So many businesses wanted to showcase their services, the show had to expand into the Kensington Room instead of just the original two main ballrooms at the hotel. Fitzgerald said that’s a good sign that there are a lot couples coming back to Thunder Bay.

“I honestly believe Thunder Bay has a large population of brides and grooms left and coming back to get married here,” he said.
Bryan Davis agrees.

“I was surprised and pleased. It’s good to see this kind of turn out in Thunder Bay. It’s good to see the city growing,” he said.

Davis and Mary Paulusma are getting married in July of 2014. While that may seem like far away, they’re glad they started planning already.

“We figured we’d give ourselves some time,” Paulusma said.

“You kind of have to. Stuff books up really fast,” added Davis.

The couple is having a backyard wedding with a lot of do-it-yourself decorations. But they wanted to see what type of rentals are available and price out things like flowers.
