It’s not very often that a person can get make-up tips, a cup of tea and self defense lessons all in the same room.
But that’s exactly what more than 700 people could get Saturday as they attended the Women’s Expo at the CLE Coliseum. Sponsored by the Thunder Bay Business Women’s Network, the expo featured more than 50 vendors from around Thunder Bay.
“It’s a very interactive hands on type of experience,” coordinator Deborah Poole-Hofmann said. “We have a great community. We have a lot of locally owned businesses and a lot of them are owned by women.”
“This is a way to promote it and have lots of fun.”
The expo has been going strong for more than a decade. Poole-Hofmann credits that with the fact that the expo is put together as a whole experience. Groups of people get together and spend several hours doing the rounds. Some walk out looking and feeling like a whole new person thanks to a makeover or a massage.
“It’s an afternoon out,” she said.
