The Northern Ontario provincial men’s curling championship is starting to take shape, and all four Thunder Bay rinks are still in the hunt.

While every team is still play catch-up with Sault Ste. Marie’s Brad Jacobs, who has raced out to a 4-0 start after beating New Liskeard’s Matt Dumontelle 7-4 in Thursday night’s Draw 3, Thunder Bay’s Trevor Bonot and Al Hackner are nipping at his heels.

Bonot dropped Robbie Gordon 8-6 on Thursday while Hackner rallied late with steals in nine and 10 to eke out a 5-4 win over North Bay’s Jordan Chandler. Both rinks improved to 3-1.

Bryan Burgess also hit the three-win plateau – albeit with an extra loss – knocking off fellow Thunder Bay skip Jeff Currie 8-5, scoring three in the 10th to seal the victory.
