Draw 2 is in the book at the Northern Ontario Curling Association West regional playdowns, and Trevor Bonot is the only undefeated curler left standing.
Bonot (2-0) scored a 6-5 win Saturday morning over a hard-charging Dylan Johnston (0-2) rink. Johnston trailed 6-2 after eight ends, but scored two in the ninth and stole one in the 10th to close to within one.
Former world champion Al Hackner showed he still belongs in the mix, edging former Canadian junior champion Jeff Currie 8-5, putting it away with steals in the eighth and ninth end. Both rinks are 1-1.
Finally skip Mike Assad took out Bryan Burgess 10-9, winning the match on a 10th-end steal, and improved to 1-1 after losing his opener on Friday. Burgess is also 1-1.
The top three rinks advance to provincial playdowns in Nipigon starting Feb. 6.
