And when the offence goes flat, it makes things that much tougher.

The Cats’s bats were ice cold on Tuesday, failing to push a single runner across the plate in a 4-0 road loss to the Waterloo Buck, Thunder Bay’s fourth straight defeat.

AJ Puk and Brent Jurceka combined on a two-hit, seven-inning shutout for the host Bucks (13-9), who remained three games back in the Northwoods League North Division, capturing their fourth straight win.

Tyler Rolland, who singled in the first, and Tyler Blankmeyer, who collected in the fifth, were the lone Border Cats to record hits.

Thunder Bay starter Ben Allison was tabbed with the loss, pulled after the third after surrendering three runs on five hits and a walk.
Lucas Soccohi took over the in the fourth, allowing four hits and a run in three innings of relief.

Connor McClain scored twice for Waterloo.

The Cats travel to Rochester Wednesday for a two-game set, then return home Friday to face Mankato.
