THUNDER BAY -- The Thunder Bay Border Cats will be heading back on the road on a winning note.

A combined five runs in the second and third innings gave the the Border Cats all the offence they needed, closing out their four-game home stand with a 5-3 victory over the La Crosse Loggers at Port Arthur Stadium on Thursday.

Jake Engel blasted his second dinger of the season, a go-ahead two-run shot in the third.

Thunder Bay starting pitcher Mark Anderson (1-0) tossed six innings, allowing three runs and striking out four, to pick up the win. Reliever Carlos Lequerica tossed three scoreless innings to pick up his first save of the campaign.

The Border Cats will face the Waterloo Bucks for a four-game road series in Iowa and a pair of games against the Eau Claire Express before returning home on June 20 to host the Mankato MoonDogs.
