Four-run innings are becoming almost commonplace for the Thunder Bay Border Cats.
For the second time in three outings the Cats posted back-to-back four-run frames, winning for the fifth time in six games Tuesday, sweeping a day-night doubleheader against the Duluth Huskies with a 12-6 triumph.
Four Thunder Bay hitters collected three hits as the Cats banged out 20 hits in total in their beefiest offensive output of the 2014 campaign.
Jordan Serena, Tyler Rolland, Cory Kay and Christian Correa combined to go 12-for-20 against a trio of Huskies pitchers in support of starter Ben Allison, who allowed just two runs over five innings.
Adam Collins, who had a pair of hits in four at bats, drove in four for Thunder Bay, who won their third straight and improved to 11-18 on the season.
Tied 2-2 after one, the Cats took the lead for good in the second with a pair.
They took an 8-2 lead in the fifth, and were up 12-2 after six, Collins scoring two with two-out double as the Cats sent nine to the plate.
Duluth rallied with four in the ninth off Thunder Bay reliever Lucas Scocchia.
Allison earned the win, evening his record at 2-2.
Earlier in the day the Border Cats took the opener 8-4.
