Brown earns win in Japan

Thunder Bay’s Eric Brown tossed six innings, allowing two earned runs and helped Canada down China 17-3 in the consolation side of the World University Games in Japan.

Brown, who pitches for the Thunder Bay Border Cats, gave up just two hits and struck out four as Canada advanced to the fifth-place game against either Sri Lanka or Chinese-Taipei.

It was Brown’s second appearance at the Games. On Monday he pitched two innings against the United States, allowing one run on two hits and two walks in two innings, earning the loss in an 8-1 defeat.
