A late game rally by the Duluth Huskies undid eight innings of solid pitching and defence by the Border Cats Tuesday night.
The Cats, now 11-14 in the second half, fell to the Huskies 3-1 despite shutting down Duluth’s offence for eight innings. The Cats took a 1-0 lead over Duluth in the sixth inning in front of 600 fans at Port Arthur Stadium.
Alex Guthrie brought in Cullen Mahoney on an infield single to record the Thunder Bay team’s only run of the game.
Cats relief pitcher Donnie White (3-2) is credited with the loss. He allowed three runs on two hits and also hit three Duluth Batters.
The series homestand continues tonight as the Cats conclude their three-game series against the Huskies at Port Arthur Stadium. The first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
