The Border Cats only managed five hits on Thursday night, but it was enough to double the Brainerd Lakes Lunkers 4-2.

Tanner Nivins homered in the sixth inning to tie the game 2-2 and Tyler Wosleger knocked in the winning run on a fielder’s choice in the eighth, as the Cats won for the second time in three games, upping their record to 7-11 in second half Northwoods League play.

Paul Barton (1-3) took over in the seventh and was credited with his first win of the season. Brad Delatte closed it to pick up the save.

The Cats now sit four games behind first place St. Cloud and Willmar, tied atop the North Division standings.

They take on Brainerd again on Friday night, as they continue a 12-game road trip.
