MARSHALL, Minn. – The Thunder Bay Border Cats are undefeated at home, despite being banished from Port Arthur Stadium until mid-June.

The Cats on Sunday captured a third straight victory, knocking off the Rochester Honkers 5-1 in Marshall, Minn. to climb back to the .500 mark at 3-3 after opening the season with three straight defeats.

The Cats took the lead for good in the fourth on a two-run single by No. 9 hitter Brendan Dougherty, the third baseman’s hit plating Jean-Francois Gagnon and Lucas Lorenz.

Up 3-1, Thunder Bay added two more in the seventh.

Colin Rosenbaum stretched the lead to three, scoring on a wild pitch, while Jared McCunn came home on a Gagnon sacrifice fly.

The win was no solace to starter Noah Denoyer, who exited in the first after recording just one out, the team saying he’s got an undisclosed injury.

Jacob Kari took over on an emergency basis and tossed 5.2 innings of two-hit ball to pick up the win. Honkers starter Michael Stryffeler took the loss, exiting after the fifth having given up three earned runs.

The Border Cats (3-3), one game back in the Northwoods League's North Division standings, will host St. Cloud on Monday night in Brainerd, Minn.
