ROCHESTER, Minn. – The Thunder Bay Border Cats erupted for six runs in the sixth inning Tuesday night en route to a second straight triumph.
Jean-Francois Garon and Braden Mosley hit back-to-back home runs to lead the charge, propelling Thunder Bay to an 11-3 win over the host Rochester Honkers, the Cats second-highest offensive output of the season.
Kevin Biondic also homered for Thunder Bay, his second of the campaign.
Rochester scored one in the first and two more in the second off Cats starter Jake Mielock, who improved to 1-2 in allowing just three hits in five-and-a-third innings of work.
The loss went to Honkers reliever Spencer Johson, torched for nine runs on nine hits and a walk after taking over for starter Michael Stryffeler with two outs in the third.
Mosely, the Cats designated hitter, was 3-for-5 on the night with a pair of RBI, while Garon was 2-for--5 with three driven in. Bionic also had three hits for Thunder Bay, who won its second straight contest to improve to 11-18.
The Honkers slipped to 14-14.
